I created a digital version of the Dutch golden-age oil painting “View of Haarlem with Bleaching Grounds” by Jacob van Ruisdael. I wanted to push the boundaries of what is done in 3D art, and find a way to reinterpret classic artworks with new technologies.
I made the scene and frame in Blender, using only procedural materials to recreate the oil painting effect. I then transferred it to Snapchat, using the material editor and a post effect in Lens Studio to generate the same look.
